Garden Green Toronto

January 15, 2008

Garden Green Toronto is a new, volunteer, grassroots group in Ward 21 made up of residents who are interested in learning about and promoting ecological gardening practices and techniques.

We are non-profit, and open to everyone. In our gardens — large and small — we want to learn how to incorporate easy, inexpensive gardening ideas so that our plants and trees thrive with minimal stress to our environment yet offer a beautiful oasis in our lives.

How are we different from other gardening groups?

  • We are non-competitive. We will celebrate lovely gardens, not rate them.
  • We are hands-on. Our diverse activities will include plant swaps, free educational workshops for adults and children, and garden tours.
  • We are education oriented. Our website will offer useful information and suggestions to make your garden ecologically vibrant and beautiful. Our virtual tours will show the potential of even a small plot of land.
  • We will efficiently adapt to our members’ changing needs. On the internet we will ask for feedback, assess our programs accordingly, facilitate the sharing of information and experience, post plant material swap sites, and post a “wish list” and a “share list” so that plant cuttings can be exchanged.

Garden Green Toronto will help you to learn to garden GREEN.
